Climbing Bisoke Volcano
Climbing the Bisoke Volcano involves a one day hike that starts early in the morning. A park ranger will escort you up the volcano through lushly forested slopes and shady bamboo forests. After an exhilarating climb you will reach the top and discover the beautiful crater lake and breathtaking views of other Virunga volcanoes. Bisoke, with an altitude of 3.711 meters, is the fourth highest mountain of the Virunga chain and boasts the largest and loveliest crater lake. After descending the volcano we will take you to your hotel for much deserved rest and relaxation.

2 Day Hike of Karisimbi Volcano
Day 1:After a hearty breakfast, you will begin your ascent of the magicalKarisimbi, the highest mountain of the Virunas at 4507m. Its name in Kinyarwanda means “white shell”, which refers to its often white-capped summit. The Karisimbi is the 5th highest mountain of Africa. You will climb six hours via the Bisoke side before reaching the first stopping place at an altitude of 3.700m for overnight. The climb does not require technical skills, but clients have to be fit and healthy as the walk is quite arduous and conditions can be wet, cold and muddy. You will camp overnight on the mountain for the first night.
Day 2: The second day, you will hike four hours to the summit. At the top of the volcano, you will look out across Rwanda’s stunning green scenery, and explore the fascinating vegetation at the high altitude. Descent of the volcano will take approximately 6 hours. Your guide will be waiting for you at the foothill and transfer you to Kigali for overnight at the hotel of your choice.

Two day trekking and cycling tour along Lake Kivu
First day: Gisenyi to RwinyoniYou will trek overland to the village of Rwinyoni, an agricultural community northwest of the lake. From here you will enjoy the amazing sun set alighting the lake shores, and relax at the village campsite before heading to bed in your campsite.

Second day: Rwinyoni-KinunuThis morning you will walk another two hours to arrive at the Nkora fishing village where you will see the fisherman returning home from their traditional overnight fishing trips. From there the trail leads up though coffee and banana plantations on the lake shores to the Kinunu coffee washing station. You will arrive at the guest house of the coffee washing station at around 3:00 PM, leaving plenty of time to rest, relax, and enjoy the evening.

This tour can be done on foot or by bike, and can be combined with a boat tour for your return to Gisenyi.
