Day one:
Your tour guide will drive you to Goma and give you a guided tour of the city. Spend the night at a hotel; the Rumangabo Guest House; or the Bukima camping site.
Day two:
After an early breakfast we will drive you to the Bukima park station in Virunga National Park in the DRC. You will be briefed by park rangers and go on a mountain gorilla trek with a Park guide. Upon finishing the trek, our guide will take you back to Goma.
Day three:
Enjoy early-morning breakfast and shopping before driving to the Kibati park station. After a briefing with park rangers, begin hiking the Nyiragongo volcano. The hike takes four to five hours. You will walk through an impressive rain forest before reaching the summit, where you can look down into the red lake of lava. Spend the evening enjoying the view, and sleep in a shelter at the crater.
Day four:
Descend from Nyiragongo and meet our driver at Kibati. Take a guided tour through Goma. After seeing the volcano you will have a greater insight of how the volcano’s 2002 eruption destroyed a large section of the town. Your tour guide will then take you to your hotel in Goma, or back to Gisenyi or Kisoro.
Day five:
Take a boat ride to Bukavu and enjoy a Bukavu sightseeing tour. Spend the night at a Bukavu hotel.
Day six:
Drive to the Kahuzi Biega National Park. After a briefing with park rangers, trek to see the lowland gorillas. Return to your Bukavu hotel after the trek.
Day seven: Your tour guide will take you on a boat back to Goma or drive you to a destination of your choice.
